- Success isn’t by luck, it has a pattern – Iroghama
Fifty-four (54) students are set to compete in the grand finale of the ongoing 4th National Marine and Blue Economy Quiz, having successfully scaled through the regional contest yesterday.
The 54 finalists in the ongoing virtual competition being organized by Ocean Ambassadors Foundation (OAF) emerged from a group of 278 regional contestants who participated in yesterday’s segment.
The Managing Director of Starz Investments Company Ltd, Ms. Iroghama Ogbeifun revealed this while speaking at the regionals, even as she commended the finalists for reaching the finals having been drawn from an initial 1780 participants when the competition kicked-off on Wednesday.
According to Iroghama, the finalists have proven to be exemplary and excellent, hence, she charged them to imbibe good characteristics that will distinguish them in life irrespective of their chosen careers.
Her words: “No successful person was born that way; even those born with silver spoons had to put in the work at some point. The key to success isn’t luck, but the ability to build some characteristics over time that would make one a champion.”
“To the 54 students who have reached the final stage of the ongoing competition I say big congratulations. You have done really well. I wish you all the very best and look forward to the great and mighty things you will do in your careers”
She, however, admonished other participants not to be discouraged. “For other students, the fact that you got this far should be reason to be excited. You not only participated, but thrived to get to this stage in the competition,” Iroghama remarked.
Meanwhile, she applauded OAF for its consistency, a trait which she asserted has become a rare characteristic of Nigerian businesses and initiatives, stressing that OAF’s consistency is remarkable.
“Consistency isn’t something that one finds everyday. Thank you OAF for the impact you make on young girls and thank you for availing us opportunities to mentor and make impact in their lives,” Iroghama added.
Earlier, the Director General of Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS), Mrs. Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike also encouraged the participating students to take seriously the teachings availed them during the ongoing exercise.

The Role Model to declare open the 2nd Day Regional Contest was the Group Head, Gender desk Bank of Industry, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Adebola Qoruma, and she inspired the participants with several nuggets for success.
