Shippers’ Council, Lekki Port Target Hub Port Operations For West Africa

  • NSC reiterates commitment to seamless cargo movement, port efficiency

The nation’s port economic regulator, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has deepened its partnership with the promoters of Lekki deep seaport, Lekkii Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), in a bid to ensure Nigeria’s emergence as hub port in the West and Central African sub-region.

Both organizations synergized for this goal when the Executive Secretary of NSC, Barr. Akutah Pius, hosted the management of Lekki Deep Seaport led by the Managing Director, Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), Mr. Du- Ruogang, during a courtesy visit to the Council’s headquarters.

The NSC boss also seized the opportunity to reassert the Council’s commitment to port efficiency via the promotion of seamless movement of cargoes to and from Nigerian ports.

While addressing the Lekki port delegation, Akutah stressed that as the nation’s Port Economic Regulator, the NSC promotes seamless movement of cargoes as well as efficiency of the nation’s ports.

The NSC boss, who appreciated the management of Lekki deep seaport for the visit, expressed the Council’s readiness to partner with the port in the areas that will boost their operations in the country.

Stating their mission to NSC, Mr. Du – Ruogang, said that Lekki deep seaport has been adding value to Nigeria’s economy since it started commercial operations in 2023, due to its ability to receive large vessels.

The LPLEL boss, who felicitated with Barr. Akutah on his recent appointment as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NSC, commended the Council’s regulatory activities at the nation’s ports.

He also appreciated the support that the management of Lekki Port has been receiving from Nigerian Shippers’ Council, the port operator called for continuity, adding that the interest of both parties is to make Nigeria the maritime hub for West and Central Africa.
