Princess Chi Lauds Comptroller Olumoh’s Commendable Strides At Lekki

The Managing Director of Muna Sylver Nigeria Limited, Hon. Princess Chi Ezeh, has congratulated the Area Controller, Lekki Free Zone Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh for the recent high-profile seizures of drugs and narcotics.

Recall that the Lekki Free Zone Area Controller recently handed over two 40ft containers laden with illicit medicaments intercepted at the Lekki Deep Sea Port to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Lekki Command, Commander Jonah Achema.

Princess Chi, who is also a Vice President of th National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Western Zone, expressed delight that the Lekki Customs boss is ensuring that illicit drug smugglers don’t find safe haven at Lekki port.

Her words: “My concern is that when a new seaport emerges like Lekki deep seaport, while genuine shippers, freight forwarders and other port users are looking out for the new opportunities especially for a deep seaport; drug smugglers also see a new opportunity to carry out their illegal activities.

“We know that Apapa, Tin Can Island Port and others across Lagos have proven to be a no-go area for smugglers. What we are seeing is smugglers testing the integrity of new Commands like the Lekki deep seaport. I am delighted that the Area Controller is not letting the service and the nation down.”

News Diet recalls that the illicit pharmaceutical products which were imported from Karachi, Pakistan and handed over at a ceremony which took place within the premises of the Lekki Deep Sea Port on Wednesday.

The seizures were; 1x40ft container ‘TLLU7519041’ found to contain; 159 cartons of Royal Tramadol 225mg (tablets), 50 cartons of Bla 225mg (tables) Tramarking Tramadol Hydrochloride, 180 cartons of T i ramaking Tramado] 225 mg (tablets);

Another 40ft container with number TLLU751904 was also seized having been found to contain; 115 cartonns of Trama King 225mg (tablets); 245 cartons of Tamra| 225m (tablets).

The drugs have a duty paid value (DPV) of Nine Billion Seven Hundred and Twenty Five Million Naira (₦9,725,000,000.00) only.

Comptroller Olumoh harped on the imperative nature of the collaboration between the different sisiter agencies which culminated in the seizure of these containers with the dangerous contents in them.

This he said is line with the policy of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi whose tireless support has manifested in the performance of the 13 Free Zones under the Lekki Free Zone Command.
