Keyamo, Owusu-Nortey, Others To Lead CILT National Discourse

...Registered participants hit 400, Obaseki to launch CILT book
As part of efforts maximize Nigeria’s advancement in the evolving logistics and transport sector, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria is set to host its 2023 Conference/ Annual General Meeting (AGM) with the Minister of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN; Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki; among others will lead the discourse.
CILT Nigeria President, Barr. (Mrs.) Mfon Usoro, who stated this yesterday during a pre-event press conference, noted that a Cultural Night, Boat Ride and Train Ride are also scheduled as part of activities during the programme.

The event themed: “Designing the Future of Transportation and Logistics in Africa: Need for Dialogue”, is scheduled to hold on 27th and 28th of November, 2023 at the prestigious Intercontinental hotel, Lagos.
Usoro’s words: “The conference is almost oversubscribed. There will be no last minute or physical registrations at the venue. CILT transverses all modes of transportation including pipelines and drones and we will be exploring all these modes.”
While observing that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola may be attending the International Maritime Organization (IMO) General Assembly meeting during the event, she noted that a quality delegation from the ministry will attend the CILT conference.
According to her, the Institute’s conferences have been at par with global best standards in recent years even as she observed that these presentations have be captured in a book to be launched at the event by the Edo State Governor, Obaseki.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Programme Sub-Committee, Dr. Ogochukwu Ugboma, described the logistics and transportation sector as an ever-changing and ever evolving industry, opining that the upcoming summit is another opportunity for CILT Nigeria to lead the way in the transformation.
She itemized some the research papers to be unveiled at the summit to include: “Towards Functional Intermodal System of Transportation and Logistics in African Cities: Case Study of Nigeria”, “Urban Road Transport Development in Delta State (Past and Present): A Review”
Others are; “Designing The Future of Transportation and Logistics In Africa: The Case of Skills Development; Workforce Capacity; Frameworks; Research; Science and Innovation” and “Technological Innovations for Disaster Resilience in Multimodal Transport in Developing Economies”
Ugboma equally observed that transformation changes in any sector or venture begins with visionary leadership and thanked the CILT Nigeria President, Usoro, for availing the Institute quality leadership in recent years.
On his part, the Chairman of Publicity Committee for the event, Mr. Bashir Ambi Mohammed, revealed that about 400 participants have already registered for the programme, stressing that this indicates wide publicity of the event.
“From the day the committee was inaugurated, we embarked on an aggressive publicity toward the success of the National Conference/AGM which we are respectfully proud to placed it on record that so far we have recorded almost 400 members that have registered.”
“The beauty of it is that more are still registering, although, we have limited seats left, we will like to use this medium to appeal to the President via the CPC Chairman that registration should also be allowed at the venue, We know it is not too healthy for those in Planning Committee,” Mohammed said.
At the virtual meeting moderated by the Chairman, Planning Committee of the national conference, Prof. Kayode Oyesiku, other committees including Logistics, Technical, Editorial and Finance also took turns to brief the 100 CILT Members and journalists yesterday.
Other special guests to grace the event are; the Special Advisor to the Council of Trustees, and the CEO of Logistics Movers & Yetron Services, Chief Teete Owusu-Nortey; Former Minister of Transportation, Former Minister of Aviation, Amb. Dr. (Mrs.) Kema Chikwe; among others.
According to Prof Oyesiku, the choice of holding the conference in Lagos is not unconnected with the resounding success CILT had in the 2020 CILT Conference.
“Doing this in succession shows also that Lagos metropolis offers diversified, multimodal transportation system” he said.
