SIFAX Group commemorated the 2026 International Women’s Day with a series of impactful initiatives, including a school outreach, staff empowerment webinar and a community food distribution programme that reached hundreds of girls, employees and vulnerable residents in Lagos.

A major highlight of the celebration was an outreach to United Christian Secondary School, Apapa, where more than 500 girls received mentorship from senior female employees of the company. The session focused on leadership, education, personal development and menstrual health awareness, while the company also donated textbooks, menstrual pads and perfumes to the students.
Drawing from their personal career journeys, the speakers encouraged the girls to remain focused on their education and resist distractions, stressing that discipline and determination can open doors across diverse career paths.
Company Secretary and Legal Head of SIFAX Group, Jesuyemisi Odeyemi, urged the students to pursue excellence with confidence.
“You are strong. You can do it, and you will. You will not only do it, but you will also do it well; you will do it better,” she told the students.
Also speaking, Vanessa Uansohia, Head of Corporate Communications at Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO), SIFAX Group’s aviation subsidiary, challenged the girls to overcome self-doubt and believe in their abilities.
“The only person that is stopping you is yourself,” she said, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions with bold confidence.
As part of the internal celebration, the company also organised an interactive webinar for female employees aimed at strengthening communication and leadership capacity in the workplace.
Speaking on the topic “Speaking: A Tool for Growth, Multiplication, and Career Progression,” Public Speaking Strategist Joyce Daniels encouraged participants to embrace public speaking as a catalyst for professional advancement.
“If you will grow, multiply and have progression in your career, you will speak from a place of conviction,” she said, adding that effective leaders distinguish themselves by confidently articulating their ideas.
Group Coordinating Director of SIFAX Group, Wunmi Eniola-Jegede, described International Women’s Day as an opportunity to celebrate the social, economic and cultural achievements of women while reinforcing the call for gender equality.
According to her, the company’s activities were inspired by this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” which reflects the organisation’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
“Every woman is a leader in her own right, and giving back creates growth opportunities for individuals, organisations and communities,” she said.
Beyond the workplace, the company also extended its outreach to the Ijora community where 500 bags of assorted food items were distributed to vulnerable households.
Each pack contained essential household staples including rice, beans, vegetable oil, garri and salt, providing immediate relief to families in the community.
Eniola-Jegede, who coordinated the outreach, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s culture of compassion and commitment to supporting the communities where it operates, while also encouraging women within the organisation to lead impactful community interventions.
