Lions Club International District 404B4 Governor, Taiwo Fatoki, has launched the Ota central branch of the club to deepen its support for grassroot and community development.

Fatoki at the launch ceremony on Sunday evening in Ota area, Ogun state, urged the newly created branch to redouble their efforts in ensuring fairness, justness and transparency in the discharge of their duties.

He said the branch must also ensure that they have a net gain at the end of the year by inviting new members in cognisance of LCI Mission 1.5.

Fatoki also harped on payment of dues and participation in all district programmes, which he said was key to remaining in good standing.

He called for financial and moral support from guests to make the club president dreams of impacting the community positively a reality.

“I enjoin you make use of the leadership skills you have acquired through the club officers’ training programs and online through Lions learning center. To have a virile club that can attract good members, you have to imbibe the Lions code of ethics as global action team leader to create a harmonious environment, amity, and unity of purpose for a successful all inclusive lions service year,” he said.

In his remarks, Abayomi Oke-Asiwaju, Charter President, said the club was gearing to raise funds to develop the community.

He said the money raised would be used to rehabilitate schools in the location and build several borehole facilities to improve the human capital state of residents.

Oke-Asiwaju stated that the fund would also sponsor health development initiatives such as sight preservation and eye care, diabetic awareness, childhood cancer and hunger relief.

“Another of our core project for this Lions year is to empower the youths with relevant skills and start-up kits. That is why we request funds from our guest at this event.

“We are committed to delivering purposeful service to our community and by extension Nigeria,” he said.
