Eunice Ezeoke Bags Duchess International Outstanding Women Award

A former President of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria and CEO Bond Integrated Logistics, Mrs. Eunice Ezeoke, has been recognized for her exceptional contributions to the maritime industry at the Duchess International Women’s Day (IWD) Conference 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Ezeoke received the award at the 5-day event, at the Weston Hotel from April 17th to 18th, which featured empowering sessions, insightful discussions, and memorable moments.

According to the organizers, Ezeoke’s dedication to advancing women’s rights and opportunities in the maritime sector, particularly through her leadership at WISTA Nigeria, has been exemplary and her efforts in promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion should serve as an inspiration to others.

During the conference’s Dinner and Awards ceremony on Day 4, Ezeoke was presented with the Outstanding Award for Women in Business.

“This accolade recognizes her outstanding contributions to creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for women in the shipping and trading industry. Her work aligns with the core values of the International Women’s Day Conference, which seeks to honor and celebrate women who excel in various fields.” Yinka Odeajo, the Managing Partner of Custodian Global Consult, the event’s organizer said.

Odeajo also expressed excitement about honoring and showcasing Ezeoke’s achievements. “Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to celebrating your achievements and sharing this momentous occasion with you,” Odeajo stated.

While delivering the keynote speech at the event in Nairobi, Ezeoke made an urgent call for gender equality in the workplace, stressing that without inclusivity, there can be no true progress in any organization or sector.

The former WISTA Nigeria President harped on the critical importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education for women and girls.

She explained that encouraging more women to pursue careers in STEM is crucial for the future of any nation, as it fosters innovation and equips women with the skills to succeed in a technology-driven world.

Other women who have excelled in different sectors across the continent were also celebrated and other awardees included; Dr. Dorcas Rigathi, the Second Lady of the Republic of Kenya and Spouse of the Deputy President; who received the Torchbearer of Vulnerable Communities Award; Keza Nadia, who received the Business Leadership Award for Women in the Service Industry.

Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Ozua, received another Outstanding Award for Women in Business; Rachael Joan Wanjiru Ndung’u, who received the Distinguished Management Award for Women in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry; and Frank Gisha Mugisha, who received the Excellence Award for Tourism in East Africa.

The Duchess International Women’s Day Conference 2024 was a remarkable success, leaving participants inspired and motivated to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
