Dr. Dorcas Daniel-Bature, FCILT, has been elected Chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Lagos Branch, after securing 67 votes to defeat TPL Soledetun Abdulkarim-Yusuf, FCILT, who polled 43 votes.
Announcing the results, Mrs. Juliana Saka, FCILT, Chairperson of the 2025 CILT Lagos Branch Election Committee, commended members for their professionalism and orderly conduct during the polls.
Mrs. Saka described the exercise as transparent and well-organized, noting the impressive voter turnout.
Other elected officers include: Mrs. Oladipo, Welfare Officer (unopposed) – 102 votes; Mrs. Umo, Public Relations Officer (unopposed) – 100 votes; Kelvin Obewu Konumah, Financial Secretary (unopposed) – 95 votes; Justina Nwosu, Treasurer (unopposed) – 102 votes; and Vincent Nkwocha, Assistant General Secretary (unopposed) – 100 votes
A total of 129 members were accredited, with 100 ballots cast to decide eight positions contested by nine candidates, according to Sooth News.
Dr. Bature will succeed Dr. Bashir Ambi, FCILT, whose two-term tenure as Branch Chairman is coming to an end.
The newly elected executives are expected to be formally sworn in during the CILT National Conference and Annual General Meeting, scheduled for October 22–24, 2025, at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a show of sportsmanship, TPL Abdulkarim-Yusuf congratulated Dr. Bature via the branch’s WhatsApp platform, writing: “I sincerely appreciate all members of CILT Nigeria, Lagos Branch, for your support. I also congratulate Dr. Dorcas Bature on her victory and wish her success and wisdom as she leads our branch forward with the new executives.”
