As part of a robust commitment to community development, the nation’s port economic regulator, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has donated a specialized adjustable dental chair to the Apapa General Hospital in Lagos.
The presentation, made on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr. Akutah Pius MON, was led by the Director of the Special Duties Department, Mr. Moses Abere, as part of the Council’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery within its host community.
Speaking during the handover, the NSC delegation reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to supporting interventions that directly improve the well-being of Nigerians.
The Council noted that access to quality healthcare remains a vital pillar of sustainable community development, stressing that investments in medical infrastructure complement its broader mandate of promoting efficiency and growth in the maritime sector.
The newly installed dental chair, equipped with adjustable and specialized features, is expected to enhance patient comfort, improve clinical efficiency, and reduce procedural strain for dental practitioners.
Meanwhile, hospital officials said the equipment will significantly strengthen the capacity of the dental unit, enabling it to deliver faster and more effective care.
Receiving the donation, the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Lateefat Omolara Agbaje, described the gesture as timely and impactful.
She expressed appreciation to the Council, noting that the intervention would expand treatment capacity, shorten waiting times, and improve access to dental services for residents of Apapa and surrounding communities.
The donation underscores the Nigerian Shippers’ Council’s sustained effort to balance regulatory responsibilities with meaningful social investment, demonstrating that institutional growth and community development can advance hand in hand.
