The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has congratulated the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, on his appointment and assumption of office, describing his emergence as timely for strengthening national security and restoring public confidence.

In a statement signed by its National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the association said Nigeria requires decisive leadership to address evolving criminal threats affecting key economic and strategic sectors.

APFFLON, a major stakeholder in the logistics and maritime value chain, called for comprehensive retraining and reorientation of officers toward intelligence-led policing, professionalism, and respect for human rights.

It stressed the need for improved operational capacity, technological integration, and stronger inter-agency collaboration to tackle modern security challenges.

The association also urged the new police leadership to prioritize the welfare of serving and retired personnel through better working conditions, adequate equipment, improved remuneration, and a sustainable pension structure to boost morale and integrity.

It noted that a disciplined, motivated, and well-equipped Police Force is critical to national stability, investor confidence, and economic growth.

APFFLON reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Police in promoting secure trade corridors and strengthening Nigeria’s national security architecture.
