“Promotion in the Service is not a routine exercise; it is a reward for hard work, loyalty, and commitment to duty. It also comes with greater responsibilities and expectations,” Balogun said.

He urged the officers to see their elevation as both a privilege and a challenge, charging them to rededicate themselves to the core values of the Customs – integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

According to Balogun, the 67 promoted officers comprise three promoted from Assistant Comptroller (AC) to Deputy Comptroller (DC), one from Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) to AC, four from Superintendent of Customs (SC) to CSC, seven from Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) to SC, 15 from Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASC I) to DSC, 17 from ASC II to ASC I, 18 from Inspector of Customs (IC) to ASC II, and two from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to IC.

Meanwhile, he expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Service’s management team for ensuring that merit was rewarded, while also acknowledging the families and colleagues who supported the newly promoted officers.

“To those who didn’t get promoted this time, I encourage you to be strong and prepare harder next time,” he added.

Balogun emphasized that the promotions should translate into strengthened anti-smuggling operations, improved revenue recovery, and better trade facilitation in Zone C’s area of responsibility.

The event was attended by senior officers, family members, and friends of the honorees, who cheered as the new ranks were decorated.
