A high-profile delegation from the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) is currently participating in the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group V (Insolvency Law) Session in New York, USA.

The Nigerian delegation has given the nation quality representation at the weeklong summit which commenced on Monday.

The delegation includes distinguished Nigerian Business Recovery and Insolvency experts led by the BRIPAN President, Chimezie Ihekweazu, SAN; Co-Chair Special Projects Committee, Amala Umeike Esq; and a renowned academic and Business Recovery and Insolvency expert, Prof. Nelson Alino.

The ongoing UNCITRAL Working Group V session focuses on global insolvency frameworks, addressing key issues in cross-border insolvency, debt restructuring, and corporate recovery—critical areas for Nigeria’s evolving business climate.

BRIPAN’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to aligning with international best practices in insolvency and business recovery.

This engagement provides an opportunity for Nigerian experts to contribute to global policy discussions while gaining insights to enhance Nigeria’s legal and regulatory frameworks.

It is expected that the BRIPAN delegation, upon its return will share key takeaways with stakeholders to further strengthen Nigeria’s position in international trade and insolvency law.
